Mail Restrictions

This is just a general inquiry [on behalf of our Development department] into how other organizations may setup and use their mail restrictions.  There is a concern that the existing restrictions (which is in itself a bit of a misnomer) are not clear enough, specifically regarding old restrictions, who put them there - and, more importantly, why.

We are willing to reconfigure that aspect of our Tessitura setup, but would like very much to hear what other organizations are doing and what works best for them.

Thank you for your feedback!

  • Hi, Matt:

We have a “no list trade” setting that gets automatically applied (via a scheduled job that runs frequently) to all accounts with certain constituencies (donor levels and board of directors). Otherwise, all changes to mail settings get documented in CSI’s so that we know why they’re being applied.

    We use the following:

No Marketing/List Trade [as described above; in general, identifies the “personal touch” accounts]

No Mail/Customer Request [also used when all contacts in an account are deceased]

No Mail/Staff, Inhouse [so that we don’t send 50 copies of brochures to ourselves]

Marketing/Limited [for people to whom we send only large brochure mailings, but no more targeted marketing pieces; also suppressed from list trades]

    No Valid Address
