Hi all. I learned alot about VMWare at the conference. Thanks to those I spoke with and the sessions I attended. Here is where we are... We're replacing our Tessitura and EBMS servers and are planning to virtualize. Here is the config I'm now looking at:
HOSTS: 2 Dell R710 servers, each w/ 96GB RamSAN: Dell MD3200i w/ 4x600GB 15K disks & 3x2TB 7.2K disks.VMWare: Essentials Bundle Plus
Tessitura DB is about 20GB and growing. We'd be running Tessitura, EBMS, CC Server, Gateway/Web server, Report Server. Also, the Test environments for Tessitura & EBMS.
Our Dell technical rep is confident the config will work well. Consultants however are trying to sell me on the HP P4300, which is double the cost. But they say we could also roll in our Exchange Server, File Server, and "everything else". Not sure I'm able (or ready) to do that though!
Does anyone have any comments/opinions on the Dell config? Without knowing the true impact of NextGen and server performance requirements, it may be difficult to predict. What do you think?
Thanks,
...Dave
Dave (nice name),
It might be better to speak to you vs try and put this in an email. Feel free to email me directly at dalton at centertheatregroup dot org.
I look forward to helping.
