New problem with memberships, gifts, constituencies and ranking

At our organization, a patron can purchase a membership online, then immediately be entitled to the privileges at that level (ranking).  This worked perfectly last year.  Now, we have an intermittent issue where some patrons that purchase a new membership or renew an old membership are not given the ranking and thus cannot take advantage of these privileges (early purchase), while others have no problem.  It is causing our ticket office and development office a number of headaches because of the number of calls that come in because the patron purchased the membership, but could not purchase tickets.

In a working record, the customer has the following information available in their constituent record:

The gift is shown in the Contributions tab.

The constituency is shown in the header.

The constituency is shown in the Constituencies tab.

The contribution is shown in the Contributions tab and in the order.

The membership shows in the History tab.

The gift shows in the Transactions tab.

The ranking is shown in the Rankings page of the Research tab.

An acknowledgement is created.

For the customers who are these exceptions, the following items are different:

The membership is not shown in the History tab.

The ranking is not shown in the Rankings page of the Research tab.

This has happened with web orders and orders done in a contribution order in development.  It seems that the constituency is created, but not the membership nor the ranking.  Does anyone have information on the steps that are used by Tessitura to process a membership?  What stored procedures are run? In what order?

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Allen

  • Hi Allen,

When does your fiscal year change?  Is there any chance that the new fiscal year campaign setup didn't get created quite right?  The gift relies on that setup to know how to trigger a membership, so that might explain the behavior.  Let me know if you'd like more detail.
