Accounts with the default address

I'm hoping that anyone who allows users to register without a valid address (especially TMS/Wordfly users - or just anyone creative for that matter!) might have some ideas for us.

We recently implemented a new module on our website that allows users to register for our enewsletters online and dumps the data directly into Tessitura (to be pulled by Wordfly).  It works great!  However we ran into one gotcha along the way.  We've left address optional so many of these new accounts have the default address.  When one of them tries to make a purchase the card is authorized but the order doesn't go through.  We've confirmed with Tessitura support that this is because of the default address.  In a few months we'll be rolling out a complete reworking of the Tessitura integration on our website so we can add something to force these users to enter a valid address prior to purchase, but in the meantime we're working with older code that isn't easily changed.

Just wondering if anyone has any creative ideas to get us through the summer. We investigated sticking in an error message, but because of when the address gets checked that doesn't help.  Currently we're thinking of changing our default address so the accounts that are out there can order, but of course we'll have the same problem popping up again in a few days so it will be an ongoing battle.

Thanks oh wise Tessiturians.  Looking forward to seeing everyone in Orlando in a few short weeks!

I wonder if this is because AVS (address verification) is turned on in Transcend? We have that turned off so it won’t refuse when the address doesn’t match.

  • Thanks Gloria.  I'm not sure.  Our DBA is on vacation for a bit longer so I can check in with her when she returns.

We did get one more fix to try from our web developer so I'm crossing my fingers that will do it!

    Have a great weekend everyone!
