Dear helpful folks,
We’re in the process of changing all our GL#s to match change in accounting system. My question is: can I just replace the old GLs with the new GLs in the existing Funds, Payment Methods and Price Maps to no ill effect? Obviously, that would be my preference over inactivating old/creating new/associating new price maps to all active price types.

Hi Sharon,
I went through a similar change a few years ago, and I'm preparing for one in the next couple of months as well.
Our plan is to create the new GL numbers in Campaigns-->References-->GL Accounts. Then, we will choose a cutover date to switch the active Funds, Price Maps, Fees and Payment Methods to the new GL Accounts.
I believe that when you make a change like that, any transactions that have already been posted stay with the old GL in on any posting reports. So if you were to make that change mid-month and then run Transactions by Posting or a similar report for the entire month, you would see the first half of the month to the old GL Accounts and the second half to the new ones.
As always, careful testing and thorough documentation is really important when you're making a change like this.
