N-SCAN and Mobile Phone

Hello Everyone

We are scoping out Access Control and N-Scan as a project for next year.  Once of the questions that have popped up is if the Scanners on the N-Scan devices can read bar codes off mobile devices.  I know that laser scanners can't read these screens but CDC and picture scanners can.

Thanks

Nick

  • We also tried once and could scan ticket from the mobile device using symbol scanners. The real issue is putting a physical procedure in place. Like (1) what will be the procedure if the wireless network or server is down or for any other reason tickets could not be scanned – in case of a physical ticket it’s possible to tear up the barcode portion of the ticket for later scanning (2) how to design the ticket for mobile device so that barcode can be seen on the screen without scrolling or zooming in or out to save time – when lots of patrons are waiting in the queue things go out of control some time, etc.

Well, it's far from a definitive test, but we have scanned a barcode on an iPhone in the past using our Symbol MC70's.

  • Adding to what Mo mentioned is how to handle multiple tcikets on a device.  This will take up time for a customer to cycle through tickets on a device to be scanned,

  • Jon,

Since 2010 have you seen, built, or otherwise imporved the mobile ticket scanning experience?
