Preparing for a high volume web onsale

It's looking like we are going to have a "really big" on-sale coming up later this week - our first.  We're being told that it should sell out fairly quickly (just over 1500 seats) and most of the sales will be online.

Is there anything special I need to do to prepare for this (besides the obvious - canceling the vacation day I had planned for the on-sale day...)?

Thanks in advance for all advice.

Let’s see…I’ve been through many of these! Here’s my advice:

Run performance monitor on all servers to monitor the activity.

Watch SQL Activity Monitor for process blocks, etc.

I use an analytics service in addition to Google Analytics that lets me see in real time how many people are online. (www.getclicky.com)

If your servers haven’t been rebooted in a while, you might want to do that.

Monitor your bandwidth consumption if you can.

Watch for seat locks both by watching the seat map and by running the Web Current Seat Locks report (a shared report).

    Hope that helps!

    Gloria
