printing special character on tickets

Hi all,

I’m hoping one of you might be able to help out on a Monday morning!  I have to print a special character on some tickets for a show I’ve just set up, but I can’t get the ® symbol to print on tickets.  I’m using font 13, have tried entering in the ascii code < alt + 174 >, and have made sure the font selection in printer properties is Multilingual Latin 1 (850).  While it’s showing up in perf info in the ticketing setup, it’s coming out on the ticket as «.  I wonder if I’m using the wrong code, or if there’s something else going on.

Any suggestions?  Or do you think I need to submit a ticket on this one?

Cheers,

Kathleen

  • Thanks for this, Tony!

That worked a treat (well, alt + 0169) when printing to our new BOCAs, but not so much on the old ones. In the interim we’ll just send tickets for the relevant performance to the new printers. When things aren’t so busy, I’ll have a proper look at the old BOCAs or submit a ticket.

    Thanks again!

    Hello Kathleen

Characters on tickets can be tricky, often due to a conflict between the ASCII code needed to print the accented letter or special character correctly in production elements and what Font 13 on the Boca sees and interprets.

You're using the correct font (13) in ticket design and for the printer (Multilingual Latin 1 (850).

    Try using <ALT + 169>  for the ® symbol.

Althought it's a workaround you could also hardcode in to the ticket design.

    Best wishes

    Tony
