Sage 200 v2010

Hi all. We're just about to upgrade our Sage finance application to Sage 200 v2010, and I'm thinking of installing it on the server which hosts our Tessitura Live. It has plenty of capacity and power, and is hardly ticking over at the moment.

Has anyone any experience of this kind of installation? Any 'gotchas' I need to be aware of? The server runs WinServer 2008 64-bit and SQL Server 2005 (soon to be upgraded to 2008).

Thanks..  Peter

  • Hi Peter,

I have no direct experience with Sage so I can't speak to any incompatibilities, but one thing we always think about when considering adding other things to the Live server is, "What will the requirements be in terms of maintenance, restarts, etc...?"  For us Live has to be up 99-100% of the time because our business hours run as long as 8am - 11pm some days and we prefer web sales to run 24/7 so we work very hard to minimize downtime on Live.  If we had other applications running on the same server it would mean any maintenance or upgrades on them would need to be done late at night and scheduled in advance.

We run Sage MIP Fund Accounting (Version 10.2.5.0)  on a stand-alone server at present.  IT has performed extremely well and has not caused any issues that would require reboots.

I see no reason you couldn't run it very  well on your LIVE server.  The foot print and database are extremely small even after a number of years.  When the curreny server housing MIP is due for retirement we will be moving it to our LIVE server.
