Dynamic LIst with relative dates?

I am dreaming up new and exciting uses for Dynamic lists these days.  Mostly as a way to give the users more power to get the data they need.  (Selfishly, this means they won't be calling me).

Can I make a date criteria in a list relative?  What I'm shooting for is the ability to schedule reports which use dynamic lists such that each time the list re-generates, I'm getting contributions for the previous 12 months beginning with the day that the list is regenerated.

Thanks all!

  • Hi Levi

You can make the date criteria relative, but it’s to the Run Date of the list.

Using today 16 Sep 2010 as an example:

    ·         Report Run Date = 16 Sep 2010

    ·         Beginning or Report Run Month = 1 Sep 2010

    ·         End of Report Run Month = 30 Sep 2010

These ones you can add or subtract months or days to get even more flexibility

    ·         Beginning of: Report Run Date +/- months, setting this to +1 would be 1 Oct 2010, -1 would be 1 Aug 2010

    ·         End of: Report Run Day +/- months, setting this to +1 would be 31 Oct 2010, -1 would be 31 Aug 2010

    ·         Report Run Date +/- months, setting this to +1 would be 16 Oct 2010, -1 would be 16 Aug 2010

    ·         Report Run Date +/- days, setting this to +1 would be 17 Sep 2010, -1 would be 15 Sep 2010

To get the full force of Dynamic Dates read this,  http://www.tessituranetwork.com/network/Learning/Documentation/Extractions%20and%20Lists/Criteria%20Sets%20for%20Lists%20and%20Extractions.aspx

For your example you would be wanting 2 date criteria:

    ·         Contribution date: >= Report Run Date Month -12 (12 months prior to the date the list is run ie today last year)

    ·         Contribution date: <= report Run Date (the date the list is run ie today)

Hope this is what you are after.
