Hi,
I have just noticed that since upgrading my machine I can't open documents from the research tab, I get a screen asking me to type the name of the file I want to package.
Anyone?
Hi All (again),
I managed to find a copy of Photo Editor (not easy) and installed it on my Windows 7 machine, I still can’t open the files. I have noticed that this also applies to html files that are saved, bit of a pain when you want to save an email to a customer record.
I have no problems with opening standard office and PDF files, just those which are saved as packages. Google is offering no solution, can anyone help?
Thanks,
Gary

Hi All
I first saw the issue with JPGs and GIFs happening with Vista. It seems that starting with Vista that the information that got ‘packaged’ up when the JPG was stored as a blob in the database was either removed or different.
What I have been told is that installing Photo Editor from Windows XP is the documented fix. Photo Editor is no longer in existence in Vista and 7 and this is used to open the package.
Hope that helps a little.

What’s interesting is that I got the “package” message when trying to attach a jpg file too, which would not be affected by the Office issue you refer to.

It was on the application server. When we had to deal with this we were already on RAMP so I basically punted to the support team there. I looked through mny emails on the topic last night and realized that I don't think we ever fully resolved the issue. Where we ended up was with an instruction to the users that if they wanted to attach documents to a record, they needed to save them as an Office 97-2003 format.

Hmm, we don’t have office installed on any of the Tessitura servers, which particular server do you have it on?

I need to dig back through my email on this, but I believe this is related to the version of Office installed on the Tess Server. If the server is unable to open the document natively, you may have problems. I don't think we had to install Office 2007, but managed with the converter plugin for Office 2003.

I found this week when I tried to attach a document other than a pdf or bitmap, that I got the message asking me what file to “package.” I had not used the document tab before, so thought that perhaps the file formats were limited to pdf and bmp. I am working on a Windows 7 professional 64-bit machine.
