We are struggling with wheelchair seats and TNEW. Currently, the box office goes through the next week's shows and calls anyone who booked online to ask if they are sitting in a wheelchair, or are planning to transfer to a regular seat. If they are staying in a wheelchair, we wind up having to remove multiple seats to accomodate (which is fine!), but if they were planning on a wheelchair transfer, then none need to be removed at all. Has anyone come up with a halfway decent way to address this? I was thinking maybe something could be done with a cart validation based on seat type, such as offering up something to the effect of "you have purchased a wheelchair space - please tick the box that best describes your need (and then offering "staying in wc" and "seat transfer"), but I have limited experience in this particular area.
Any thoughts welcome!
Hi Kathleen Smith,
We do use a TNEW precart form to capture additional details in relation to accessible seat bookings. The captured information is saved directly into the Special Request section of the order which also allows Box Office to amend / add other required information to any existing TNEW orders or new non-TNEW orders. Here is what the form looks like:
The form is complimented by a scheduled custom report that is sent to the Venue / Front of House staff at the beginning of each day containing all the required accessible seating requests / information for further action. The report can also be run ad-hoc as required to capture any last minute orders that may come through before a show / performance. Here's a screenshot of the report:
There are currently still some ongoing updates that need to be added to the above based on feedback from both our patrons and internal users to further improve the process but this has allowed us to sell accessible seats online which is something that a lot of our access patrons have requested for in the past. Happy to share further details of how the above is set up if this is of interest so just let me know. Thanks!
Hi Andrew Chew,
This looks like something that could be very useful to us! I'd love to get more info.
Andrew Chew, anything you'd be willing to share would be gratefully appreciated! ksmith@2st.com
