Flex Header Icon V16 Prep

Greetings all,

I am working my way through all of the steps to prepare for the v16 upgrade and I am currently working on the flex header prep. The documentation says I should replace my custom icons with icons from the  Font Awesome 4.7 library of icons but it does not provide any formatting instructions. The TR_FLEX_HEADER_ELEMENT documentation in the v16 system is the same as v15 (showing the old custom icon section) and doesn't mention the font icons. Is there a specific format for the font icons similar to the "resources\____.png" format of the built-in icons in v15? Is this font already available in v15? Do I have to install the font on my server manually to access it the same way I do my current custom elements?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

  • Hi Joshua

It turns out that you just type in the name of the font character into the ‘web icon’ column in TR_FLEX_HEADER_ELEMENT, without the fa- prefix.

The link to the font and instructions on formatting is on the Flex Header Elements page in the v16 documentation (https://www.tessituranetwork.com/Help_System_v160/Tables/TR_FLEX_HEADER_ELEMENT.htm)

    https://fontawesome.com/v4/icons/

eg I added taxi against one of our elements as a test.  I hope the image comes through!

The other stumbling block I had was that I didn’t update the new field in security.

    Register the format as follows:

      • Contribution Entry and Order Details: Select your header format in the Header Format of the appropriate user groups in the security application.
      • Constituent Records: Select your header format in the Web Header Format of the appropriate user groups in the security application.
      • QuickSale, Popup Header, and TRBO: Find the ID of the row you created in the Output Formats table in step 1. Populate that ID in the appropriate value in the System Defaults table: QUICKSALE_HEADER, POPUP_HEADER, and/or TRBO_FLEX_HEADER.
