I know that when we started using SSRS reports that the end user was not able to select anything in a dropdown window until I added a new DWORD in Regedit/FEATURE_USE_WINDOWEDSELECTCONTROL for tessitura.exe.
I am going to be upgrading my IE 7 to IE 8 for testing. But I wanted to know if anyone has upgraded their IE 7 to IE 8 and if so did that effect the way the WindowSelectControl worked with the SSRS Reports?
I have upgraded to IE8 and tested this scenario. While the registry entry does still appear to be necessary for proper functioning of the dropdowns, the upgrade to IE8 did not reverse the fix or appear to cause any other problems viewing SSRS reports in Tessitura.
Is this reg fix on the SSRS server or each client machine and is there a TASK ticket / documentation for this fix?
thx!
Per workstation, I'm afraid. Here's the knowledgebase article for the fix.

Thanks for this post.
Hi All,
I wrote some vs 2008 C# code to modify the registry.
this post attached with source code, and exe file.
if you want to do it yourself you can modify the source code.
Otherwise, you can run regChangeVS2008.exe with permission to modify registry(such as Admin login).
have fun.

Gentlemen; I'm curious about this. Is this still a problem in SSRS? It's been a few years; we just implemented on SQL Server 2012, and I was unable to find any Googlable evidence of the wider SSRS world having this issue with IE 7. I am able to select from parameter header drop downs without this tweak, but for all I know this is referring to a different kind of drop down.
I bring this up because the Mail2 custom screen has the same issue, and I would have expected by now everyone could have just updated their software to use the "Windowless Select Control" instead of the old "Windowed Select Control" that causes an issue. Is there a larger reason for this still being a problem?
This is still an issue with types of dropdown lists rendered within the IE OLE Browser Control, which is what Tessitura uses to display web pages within the client app. It is not a widely known issue, but continues to require the registry fix. This is due to issues with the reduced IE feature set within the control and is a Microsoft Windows issue that doesn’t appear to have an priority for a resolution.
In v12, the registry fix for the browser can be applied by loading the client application as a local admin, loading the Debug Tools window (under Help) and clicking the Apply Browser Registry Fix button. This should work in 32 bit or 64 bit.

Awesome! Thanks for providing that tool in v12--makes things much easier for me in an environment with no group policy.
Someone at mail2 mentioned that another registry tweak could somehow cause Tessi to use IE 10 or 11 as its "browser", but I get the feeling that might have been misunderstood somewhere -- does that sound familiar?
YMMV with this, but this is probably what they are referring to:
