Hi World Tessiturians,
Could somebody currently integrating Vimeo with Tessitura please put their hand up to assist the ACO with some queries we have?
We currently integrate on an annual subscription to Vimeo through Tessitura. We want to move to an ongoing monthly charge rather than an annual subscription. We would want to facilitate this through Tessitura with the ongoing payments been charged in Tess. We're thinking a membership to put the constituency onto the constituent record but are unsure of how to deal, as best practice, with the monthly charge. We're currently envisioning this as an open ended membership that is only closed when the constituent notifies Vimeo of their need to cancel their membership.
Is anybody else doing this? Can you advise pitfalls and requirements?
As a member of a consortium, is there anything we need to be aware of that may complicate the process as a result?
Thanking you all for your assistance and consideration.
I wait to hear...
Lesley @ the ACO.
Hi Lesley,
We did this by using ticket orders. We've customized this ourselves, but when you subscribe online it charges you your first payment and then sets up an unpaid order for the remaining months of the year with a payment schedule for the those remaining months. We then have the Ticket Order Billing utility scheduled to run weekly to charge the monthly credit card payments. Becasue we also allow gift certificates and on account payments for subscriptions, we also have the utility running for each of those two payment methods and someone on our front line team manually does those payments. The custom procedure that we created also adds an open ended constituency to the patron file. If a patron chooses to cancel, we delete the constituency because you can't re-add the same constituency (currently).
If we were to do this again, knowing what we know now - we would have used memberships, which also has the ability to do payments, and has a built in way to add and remove the constituency and eventually we'll be able to do recurring memberships. I think our hangup came on needing to charge tax on the subscription and obviously we can only do that through ticket orders so that's why we quickly went that way. (We also didn't have a lot of time to think about it and needed something ASAP.)
Feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any questions!
