I am aware from searching other forum discussions (and from experience) that the NCOA utility will overwrite the previous address, but that you can still find it in the Audit screen of the Transactions tab in the record. I'm curious if anyone has found a way to retrieve that data and create a Postal Address record, select "Previous Address" type and mark it "Inactive"? Or are there any other creative solutions to solve for 'x' here?
Any insight from the community would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael Dorsey
Hi Michael,
We have exactly that! We created a custom script that we run after running the NCOA utility to add back the deleted address as an inactive address so we can see the old record. We don't change the address type in the process, just re-adding as an inactive address. If you or someone at your organization is familiar with running SQL queries I'm happy to send our script along.

Sara, I'd like a copy. j.trimble@dbdt.com. Thanks!
That's fantastic! I'm the one who'll be running the SQL - mdorsey@spoletousa.org. Thank you!
Sara,
I would also like a copy., please. I have been working on a script for a while and any help would be appreciated. bakscott@umich.edu
Update: Ran in Test and it worked great! Thanks again, Sara.
Hi Sara,
I would also love to snag a copy of this - we are in the beginning stages of implementing Tessitura, so we're not *quite* ready to run this; but, we definitely want to keep tabs on this kind of thing, too!

I have created a Contact Point Purpose Category and some purposes to identify when inactivated addresses were inactivated for an NCOA Delete, Move, or manually by staff. This is nice because it shows up clearly in the Contacts/Addresses tab.
Hi Sara! Can you send that custom script to the Berkshires of western Mass? I'm at mrymkiewicz@jacobspillow.org
Much thanks!
