Our CFO has a question:
Daily posting activity is usually assigned a sequential posting number. It seems that each day our posting numbers jump – with sometimes one, two or three blank posts in between. Do you know why this is? Is this something the users are doing?

The most likely reason is the folks posting are “testing” --doing a preliminary posting to check the GLs and transactions – if that posting is not accepted the posting number is discarded by the system. If they don’t mean to do a “test” it may be a matter of training to let those staff members.

When users post batches in Tessitura, they sometimes want to look at the posting before posting it to the G-L. If they do this and then don’t post the batches to the G-L, a posting number is still assigned, but then it is not the final posting number. As a result, some of the numbers are skipped.
