At NIDA, we want to refine our Geo Areas as ours are (to put it mildly) quite simplistic. We're just wondering how our fellow Tessi organisations segment their data - by custom postcode ranges? By LGAs? By some other criteria?
It'd be greatly appreciated if anyone was happy to share their setup!

Hey Martin,
I do LGA. It's helpful for Edication aquitals for gov and you can match it up to census data for some more interesting data dives. NB that Postcodes don't map to LGAs 100% but the ABS has a handy % overlap which is helpful in assigning what should go where.

Maybe I'm having an "off" day but I can't find (on the ABS website or anywhere else!) a list of postcodes and their relevant LGA. Would you have a copy that you'd be prepared to share?

Hello Heath Wilder! Have come across this thread as I'm also starting on the big task of updating our Geo Areas to make a bit more sense. IF at all possible I'd be so keen to also get the details of how you've proceeded with setup so I can get some tips from your expert brain :D

Sent the LP_UPDATE_GEOAREA and update to add the Australian Geo areas with the corresponding Australian Bureau of Stats IDs that allow you to do a match. Let me know if you need a hand
