What information/data is stored in the CODE 128 barcode in Tessitura?
do they have the performance date?
Please advise
Sharon Choondassery,
There are a number of different styles of barcodes and QR code’s. CODE 128 is just one style. The content of a bar code could be all sorts of different strings representing different things. In the Tessitura community, it is not unusual to use a CODE 128 barcode for a ticket number on a ticket, a membership Id number on a membership card, an order number on the top of an order document. In my experience it is atypical to directly encode a date in a bar code. However, associated with memberships numbers, tickets numbers, and orders numbers one has associated many different dates. The application reading the barcode can often find a date based on ticket number, membership no, order no…. Finding that information is typically up to the application developer to figure out how to do.
To get some further insights from the community, you might want to share a bit more about the context of you CODE 128 bar code. Is it on a ticket or elsewhere? Are you reading it with NSCAN, or a symbol barcode reader attached to a box office computer. How will performance dates play into the successful operations for you and your organization.
This is for our nscanner devices.
