Problems with Flash v 10

Hi,

Within the last week or so we've been inundated with queries from customers using IE7 who have previously been able to take advantage of our 'Flash-based' Select Your Own Seat facility, but are now unable to do so.

It appears that many of them are using version 10 of Flash and that they're running Windows Vista.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

It also appears to be affecting our 'Restricted View' messaging pop-ups - which, given the large number of restricted view seats in our main auditorium, is proving quite tiresome.

I would be immensely grateful if anyone could offer advice on what to do/advise.

Cheers K

  • Have you checked Flash 10 running in other browsers and OS's?

My thought is that Vista is a bit more draconian, and that the SYOS Flash interacts with the local client, so I'm wondering if there needs to be some modifcation to the Security Settings in IE7 on Vista?

  • Hi Nathan,

    Thanks for this.

We did quite a bit of testing on other Browsers and Operating Systems and got some confusing results.

However, it has transpired that the problem lies on one of our two load-balanced webservers (the issue was with the 'slave' server - which should have been identical to the 'master' server in all aspects - we suspect it was the IIS settings).

We has since removed this server from the loop and are no longer experiencing problems.

You are quite right about Vista being more draconian in its security - we think that the problem with the server must have existed for a while, but recent updates (for both Flash and IE7) have brought the problem to light.

    Thanks agian for the advice.
