Benchmark with TRG/Purple Seven and privacy

We are in the midst of installing the application from Purple Seven to provide daily updates of our data to Benchmark with TRG, which aggregates data from many organizations to provide summary level information.

I see that their scripts are accessing T_CUSTOMER, T_PHONE, T_ADDRESS and T_EADDRESS, even though that Benchmark's website says that they do not collect this information.  Has anyone addressed this concern already?

    A good friend of mine is with TRG, so I asked him about it.  Here is his response:  

    Brian,

    Thank you for raising this question. Client and patron data security are important to us at TRG Arts and Purple 7. Even in the US, we follow the stricter guidelines for handling patron information, per GDPR.

    While it is true we do collect patron/customer data as an input to the Benchmark, we handle that data carefully.

    • We will not use customer data for any purpose other than the Benchmark, unless your organization and TRG agrees otherwise.
    • We anonymize and aggregate all data for the Benchmark so that the *outputs* cannot identify your organization or your patrons in the data specifically. (Of course your organization will be able to identify your own trends in your personalized dashboard.)
    • We are deploying standard “multi-purpose” scripts to collect data from Tessitura.
      • We have insights planned which would allow the user to gain a better understanding of the customers’ behaviors relative to recovery; these insights do require us to collect customer data to accurately de-duplicate for analysis.
      • And, we do have participates who have opted to use our non-PI scripts, which does limit the amount of insights the organization can receive as outputs.
