One of our marketing people has posed the following issue:
In Ticketing Setup, when adding a new Title, the text box apparently only allows 30 characters. Our titles, however, occasionally require more than 30 characters to avoid truncated titles being used by our web calendar.
Strange that this issue never came up before and is now suddenly a problem, but let that go. My marketing person is now asking if there's a way to increase the length of the input to 40 - at least until we put on an opera with more than 40 characters in the title, right?
Now, I always assume that futzing with Tessitura itself is a bad idea. I'm assuming that title is based on the length of the field as set by Tessitura and cannot be easily altered. Is the underlying field dictating the size (with all of its various connections to other tables and so forth) or is it the field length of the form as used by Tessitura's interface?
I would not be interested in altering either one for the possible can of worms I might open from an integrity standpoint. So, can it be done with little to no impact on the system at large and if not, what sort of workaround could I give my marketing person?
Any ideas? Thanks in advance, as always, Tesstiurians.
BONUS BOONDOGGLE TRIVIA: The longest one syllable word in English is screeched.
No, you can’t change the number of characters for that field. It is the character limit for the column in the table where the info is stored.
The content workaround Kjersten mentioned is probably the best way to go. Some performance methods retrieve the ticket text fields, where you might be storing the titles for printing on tickets, but I’m not sure that the methods you use to build your calendar do so. Just about every method retrieves content now, though, at least the most current versions of the methods.

Hi
We have this problem so we also use a field in the Content tab called "Web Title". This also allows us to have a "Web Subtitle" field, so we can list concerts with a subtitle, eg:

Hope that helps
