"The provided credentials could not be determined"

***self-hosted organization**

We have a third party vendor accessing data by making calls via the API. He keeps getting the error "The provided credentials could not be determined." I have already verified that the credentials he is using are correct (username:groupid:machine). I also checked to see if the user account was locked or requiring a password change.

Anyone familiar with this? Any ideas?

    If I recall from previous posts, you are self-hosted; nevertheless, one of the problems we run into on the RAMP side is making sure that the IP address your vendor is using to access the API is whitelisted.  Not certain if that is the error you would get if that was the issue, but thought I would throw that out there.
