We are looking into the possibility of moving our server management to a cloud computing model. I am wondering who out there in Tessitura-land is using Cloud Computing, and what your experience has been.
Basically, I'm just looking for Pros, Cons, and best practices from anyone who has already gone there or is in the process of doing so. Also, if you have looked into it but not jumped yet, let me know that too. We are right at the beginning of information gathering.
I'd love to discuss this directly with anyone with experience on the subject.
Thanks for your input,
Adam
Greetings Adam!
We're getting our feet wet. We have built out two private clouds in different data centers. The first houses our entire Tessitura environment. The second houses our email environment as well as a secondary domain controller.
I suppose if I wanted to extend my thinking of what a private cloud really is, I could include all the servers we're moving to virtual environments here at the CSO. Eventually, we hope to be able to move virtual servers from one data center to another with much less effort than what is currently involved today.

Hi Adam,
We are using the cloud for several applications, although not directly Tess-related. I’ve also spoken about cloud computing at a few conferences over the past few years, and I’d be happy to discuss some of the pros and cons, as I see them. One of my favorite pieces of functionality to put in the cloud is email scanning – anti-spam and first layer anti-virus. Fairly easy to demonstrate ROI, and often has an almost immediate (positive) impact on your bandwidth.
Let me know if I can help.
Best,
Michael
