Adding "stuff" to a list

Hi all! Not sure if this is the right forum, still trying to get my bearings on this site (and with Tess.)

I need to learn how (or if) I'm able to add things globally based on a list. I need to add a note to a group of constituents currently, but this is a question for other areas as well, such as attributes and even bringing in an external list to globally add contributions to a list? Any of these things possible? I'm not a SQL person (yet) and have very little access to anyone who is, so looking for options from an end-user perspective, if such a thing exists.

Appreicate your time!

  • Hello Jen!

Below is a list of what we'd call "Data Management utilities" that use a list parameter to push data onto those constituents. They are all in the Data Management folder of the Reports and Utilities section. (There are many other utilities in the system that change data based on lists, but those are for more specific processes like billing.)

Beyond those, you certainly could build a list and use SQL to push data into other areas. Tessitura Consulting can assist with that if you are still learning the ropes, or the community might offer answers here in the forums. And there are also Shared Reports that might offer functionality you're looking for; you can install them with the right technical knowledge, or Tessitura Consulting can assist you as well.

Specifically for your example about pushing a note to a group of constituents, that might be a good job for the Manage Attributes utility, as long as your note fits within the 30 character limit of an attribute.

    Manage Attributes
    Manage Constituency
    Manage Constituent Protection
    Rebuild Salutations
    Manage Contact Point Purposes
    Manage Special Activity

    Hope that helps,

  • Sorry, I'm back. This is so crazy to me it's not a straighforward thing. Arg. Anyway ...The Manage Attributes Utility, this would add an attribute, not a note, correct?

  • Yes.  By note do you mean research note. I've done bulk updates in SQL but I don't think there is anything in the client to do that
