Hello All,
We've recently implemented 3 new TC52 and all is working fine but we aren't that impressed with the Rugged Boot case as it's pretty tough for our volunteers to take in and out and place in the chargers at the end of the evening? Wondering if anyone that uses these scanners has found any other cases that they like to protect from drops and overall wear and tear?
Nathaniel
Thanks for posting this, hopefully we will get some ideas. I read through all the old posts on these scanners from 2016-2019
The most helpful comment I saw was about volunteers not waiting for the scanners to connect to the wifi before starting NScan, so then they got error messages
Hi Nathaniel,
You might try PAC Supplies USA, https://pacsuppliesusa.com/. We get bumper style cases for our TC20s from them. I know they carry the black bumper cases for the 52s. We originally tried a couple of the black covers and our volunteers couldn't figure which button to press since the could no longer see the yellow buttons. It might be worth a chat with them to see if they can get the clear cases for the 52s like they carry for the 20s.
We are using these devices with the rugged boot case and we charge them in the Zebra 5-slot cradle. The cradle has a removable shim that you can pull out so that you can charge the devices without having to remove the rugged boot case.
Dan
Tell me more about this removable shim - I'm running into this exact issue with my scanners and truly had no idea there was an option with the 5-slot cradle to charge in the rugged boot case.
Hi Maery,
I was not able to find a photo of this for you and I've already thrown out the inserts that I had, so I'll do my best to describe what they are and how to remove them. Zebra refers to these as the cradle "cups" and they are the small glossy black plastic pieces that hold the devices into the charging cradle. They don't appear to be removable at first glance. When I found out that I could remove them, I was hesitant as I thought I'd break them. However, you can pull up firmly on them and they will pop right out of the cradle.
I will investigate my charging cradle tomorrow. This would be such a huge improvement for our front of house staff. Thank you!
Dan you ROCK! Thanks for the tip. I can confirm that this also works for those with MC40's and a 5-slot cradle. We are ordering some replacement boot cases and then using your removable shims so the staff do not remove and ruin the boots.
It worked! Thank you so much for this tip - I truly never would have guessed those were removable.
Dan,
It worked for us also!!!! Thank you!!!
Tami Fox here, also chiming in with images in case it is helpful for anyone. The shims can be removed from either the single slot cradle or multi slot cradles to allow for changing with the boots intact like this:
