Contact Permission Migration

Hi

We are working on migrating our contact restrictions from the General Tab into Contact Permissions. Our current restrictions allow patrons to be marked Do Not Solicit, No Marketing, No Development or No Restrictions for mail, phone and email. Our new contact permissions need to mirror this.

I am creating the following contact permissions:
Development Mail
Marketing Mail

Development Email
Marketing Email

Development Phone
Marketing Phone

In an ideal world, my migration would go like this (using email as an example):

General Tab Emarket Restriction = Do Not Solicit
Contact Permissions:
Development Email = No
Marketing Email = No

General Tab Emarket Restriction = No Marketing
Contact Permissions:
Development Email = Yes
Marketing Email = No

General Tab Emarket Restriction = No Development
Contact Permissions:
Development Email = No
Marketing Email = Yes

General Tab Emarket Restriction = No Restrictions
Contact Permissions:
Development Email = Yes
Marketing Email = Yes

Is this possible using the migration tools? It looks like you can only map each restriction to one contact permission in the mapping tables. Can the migration script be run twice with an updated mapping table - ie: run once where No Restrictions maps to Development Email = Yes and run a second time where No Restrictions maps to Marketing Email = Yes?

Thanks

    Hi Jess,

I'm trying to set ours up in a similar fashion and am wondering if you have gotten anywhere with this?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Jessica!
We did our migration from the general tab to contact permissions in March. I was able to run the migration tool multiple times to achieve what I was looking for. In addition to contact permissions, we also began using interests to track what types of emails patrons want to receive. For example, if we are sending an email about an upcoming performance, a patron would have to have their Marketing_Email permission set to Yes and the Opera News interest selected in order to receive the email. We have 7 marketing related interests and 2 development related interests that cover all the different types of emails we send. Happy to provide additional details if you are interested. Feel free to email me at jlevy@sfopera.com if you want to know more.
