TRBO throwing blank screen

Hi all - we're implementing TRBO this month and are running into an interesting quirk. I've got the TRBO apk file that comes with Tess V15.1.1 installed on two Android tablets (on versions 8.1.0 and 4.4.2 respectively). On the newer tablet, periodically (it seems to be when the tablet goes to sleep after a while), if I open up TRBO again, I just get a blank white screen immediately with no text, buttons, options, ability to navigate anywhere, etc. I have to force close the application in application settings to get out of it. We have not yet seen this behavior on the older tablet. Hard to say yet if that's a coincidence, but the more we use the two devices, the less it seems like it. 

What has not resolved it:

--Turning it off and turning it back on 

--Uninstalling and reinstalling the application

--Making sure the app is installed on internal storage (a Google results recommendation)

--Waiting out the white screen to see if it does anything

What does resolve it:

--Setting the tablet back to default settings (not a factory reset - I mean, that works too, but just doing the more basic "default settings" reset does clear it up, but boots the tablet off the network and disconnects the bluetooth printer, and we don't want to ask BO staff to have to reset all that back up whenever this occurs) 

Anyone seen anything like this? We're worried that it's a tablet version issue of some kind, but if we buy tablets tomorrow, they're going to be on this same newer version. Tessitura support also helped us take a look at this but we haven't gotten anywhere quite yet on it.

  • did you ever get a solution to this issue? I just got our tablets today and loaded them up. I was able to log in and play around a little and then signed out. When I tried to go back in I got the same white screen. I've done all the same trouble shooting as you listed, with the exception of setting the tablet back to default settings. Love any insight you have!

  • Nope! Tessitura support was unable to reproduce, so we didn't make huge strides there. I worked around it by making my tablets never fall asleep - it seems the white screen only plagues us when we're waking up a device that has gone to sleep. It does not seem to be an issue for devices that are powered down completely and then turned back on. The reset to default settings is the only thing that resolved it for me - not great, as it would boot the device on the Wifi network we were using, so not an easy "on the fly" fix. My suspicion is that it is an issue with devices on the newest Android OS, which would explain why it wasn't reproducible on the Tess support devices. I also have an older tablet that is not experiencing the issue.
