Does anyone know if the Linux versions have been through some QA? We are looking at SQL 2016 for new servers, but Linux 2017 is somewhat cheaper. Thoughts?
I have asked this question as well, particular for Analytics, and was told that it isn’t ready for use. I hope it will be sometime in the future because the savings are real. However, not all of the features of SQL Server are available on the Linux platform (like SQL Agent Alerts, XP_CMDSHELL, linked servers, reporting services), and until they are I don’t see it as a truly viable solution for an enterprise application. Here’s a full link to the unsupported features: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/linux/sql-server-linux-release-notes?view=sql-server-2017#Unsupported
Thanks a bunch. Windows it is....
