Scanning without using NSCAN

Hi

We are looking at implementing PAH and scanning. I have all the information about nscan and the supported android devices for Tessitura. I was wondering if anyone is using PAH & scanning using a system other than nscan? Or using a complete different scanning system altogether?

If anyone has any help and advise it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

  • Here is another one. Its been about 4.5 years since I did it what I am about to state and it could be easily rebuilt for REST.  I really wanted to mention it just to show you that there are possibilities out there and some you can fire up if you think out the box.

A while back I wanted to see if I could make something similar (and possibly better) to NSCAN. With a little bit of work, I was able to create a web app to that scans QR's and updates the seat statuses/attendance in tessitura with the basic checking (passed seat_no or customer no) running on a little low cost web server in house that would hit the api and call a few local procs to do the magic. This would also allow you to use any old junky smart phone to scan tickets using any free QR app. Now this  does mean you would have to print OR's too, but that is a small issue in my opinion.

Secondly, this could reduce ticket stock for subscribers by using on card and passing customer no in the code and returning the tickets for getdate(). Print a customer a card with a QR and the simply get it scanned at the venue and it pulls up all seats for the perf and the usher simply taps the attend button next to a list of tickets for the customer and life goes on. This shortens the time of scanning each ticket.

All test went very well and it seemed to be faster than NSCAN at time. If you or others are interested in this; I can fire it back up and attached some pics and some know how over the next couple weeks (I do have to do my real job too :P )

  • I highly recommend reaching out to Howard for "HowScan". I used to work with him when I was in member organizations in Milwaukee. Howard created a really great little tool to use without having NSCAN.
