So I guess in v15 email addresses are no linked to orders, rather than being directly written out in T_ORDER? My memory is fuzzy. Anyway, we are having a problem with this when we try to remove duplicate email addresses when merging:
Has anyone else stumbled on this, and does anyone have a solution? I'm assuming I'm going to have to add some merge rule to find duplicate email address, choose the keep email address, and then re-point all the customer's orders to that new address?
What we do is inactivate one of the email address, and manually go into orders on the order tab to find the problem. We then select the active email address and save it. This allows you to then delete the email address. I'm hoping a fix comes along for this as it's most annoying.
Just following up here to say that we've reverted this change after reading through these posts. In the next 15.1 SP, you will be able to delete email addresses even if they are used in an order. We made the change as part of an effort to improve database consistency, but the use case outlined here makes perfect sense. So thanks as always for the feedback.
