Targeted Text Messages for Important Info

Hi,

I am cross posting this on two forums so I apologize. We had a major program change that affected our three season opening performances. This is the biggest program change we've had. We sent out emails to all ticket buyers affected but our email open rate is not great and we started to think if there was a way to alert people via text message for this, and moving forward for emergency concert notifications. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to do this or companies that you use to do this? We are a seasonal summer festival so we would be looking for something along the lines of monthly subscription or paid per use. I tried searching the network and TN Mobile kept popping up but we are not set up for that.

Thank you,

Beth

  • Hi Beth,

I had this happen when I worked for a Festival as well (not the opening performance, but a very late cancellation of a highly anticipated performer mid-Festival). Though labor intensive. we did an "all hands on deck" with our small staff and called everyone in addition to sending multiple emails. As the head of the Box Office, I also went to the venue the evening of the scheduled performance to personally greet and apologize to the patrons who showed up.

A text messaging tool might be another nice feature to use (in addition to emails, calls, and the face-to-face), but I would caution that you'd have to know which phone numbers were cell phones before investing in it.

    Best of luck,
    Sara
