Tessitura Analytics - Help me, I'm training people! Aka, what questions have people in your orgs had about it?

Hi everyone!  I'm posting this in multiple forum groups to get as much feedback as possible.

I'm working on putting together various Analytics trainings for my team.  We just went to v15 in Test this week, and plan on moving to Live in early April.  My plan is to have the following trainings:

-Fundamentals (basics of navigating, reading reports, and building reports – should attend if planning to attend any other trainings)

-Development (building & reading devo specific reports)

-Marketing/Box Office (building & reading sales related reports)

-Higher Level Reporting/Finance (for those who tend to do deeper dives into reporting, and may have higher level questions they want answered)

I'm basically throwing myself into Analytics to get comfortable with it before I start doing the trainings, but would love feedback from those of you using Analytics already.  What are common questions that people have had while learning?  Any sticking points?  Am I trying to do too much with having 4 different trainings? Any advice on what specifically to include in each training?

Gold stars to those who share the coolest things they have figured out in Analytics so far!

Give me your horror and success stories!  Challenge issued!

  • Hi Jordan,

I would be interested to see the reply to this as well, as it seems you and I are at the same stage. Glad to be a sounding board it you would like as well.

  • Same to you!  Do you have a time frame for when you want to start doing trainings at AZO?

  • Not yet. Probably within the next two weeks hopefully. Today is the first day that I have been able to focus on getting everything set up as we were in performances this last week.

  • Hi Jordan,

I've hosted  my Fundamentals training with the company (I'm doing a 30 minute every 2 weeks after the office planking session). I get about 95% attendance because its short and I keep the learning pressure on.

    My format for fundamentals was

    1. Logging in with tess or Tess on the go.
    2. Look at what the shiny data can do (our ticket sales dashboard)
    3. Building a widget: price types/catagory sold for the current season.
    4. Modifying a dashboard: copying our dashy, and turning it into a pie chart.
    5. Pulse: setting up alerts (great for execs)

That answers most questions other than the corner cases.

I pulled Analytics out again for our Strategic exec meeting and used it to address churn (my side hobby). In the words of my Exec Director "I'm hyperventilating on the data". She loves a bit of graph porn. I also quoted Amalias "Data  Decide Do" triangle.

    ______

So I've gone into training myself by adapting the canned reports and then using it on my pet projects. Also got great tips from the Analytics  Coffee group.

From then I've  gone into my Fundamentals as a sales pitch. Tessitura On The Go  - you'll never leave home workout it. Really important for those offsite. Getting my ED to both sessions was key. It really enforces how key this is. One of my OKRs for this year is to put data in the hands of every member of the company.

    Hope that helps

    H
