Now that scheduled reports no longer run for schedule owners whose credentials are inactive, I could use some code to do updates on the back end in SSMS. Does anyone have an Update statement they're willing to share, or shall I just open a RAMP ticket?
While I'm thinking about it, I really wish that the "Manager" designation allowed that user to view/maintain the schedules created by anyone in groups she/he manages.
+1 to the "Manager" designation request. Maybe submit it as an enhancement request? The same could probably go for Lists, too.
+1 for Manager on Reports and Lists.... a utility to transfer ownership of the "things" would be great!
YES. I swear we've had nothing but turnover since they changed it so that inactive users' schedules would no longer run.
Hi Mindee et al!
I have written utilities for our consortium to change list and scheduled report owners, as well as a backend script that alerts us if any scheduled reports failed or will fail (because of the inactive credentials, etc.). I'm happy to share those scripts, and I can send cleaned up versions (for v15) out to TN to put on TASK. Since that may take time, though, I'm happy to send out less clean versions to you (and anyone else who's interested) directly, just DM me. When you do, let me know what version you're on, as some of the report table structures have changed between v14 and v15.
And that doesn't totally answer your question about updating those failing reports en masse, but my scripts should point you in the right direction for that.
In 15.1, as a non-admin you'll be able to change the Owner of a report schedule if it is currently owned by you to any other user that has the same control group rights assigned to the schedule. As an admin, since they can see all report schedules, they can change owners on any report schedule, provided the user has rights to the schedule's control group.
I saw that little bit last week and got so excited. I know...it's the little things right.
Well this completely changes how I feel about upgrading to 15.1
