Contact Permissions

We are exploring our options in Contact Permissions.  Has anyone ventured beyond the Mail Restriction, Phone Restriction and E-Market Restriction categories?

  • Hey Tara!

I'm starting to roll these out here too. So far I've created different permissions based on what I've heard people saying they don't want to receive from us. I've got the following categories with breakdowns for each contact method we use for the category as types:

    • CBYP (email and mail types)
    • Donation Requests (all 3 types)
    • Etoile (email and mail types)
    • Fundraising Events (all 3 types)
    • Ticket Offers (email and mail types)

Since I'm trying to be ready for the future of GDPR, I set them up to ask on Individuals only. However, since GDPR isn't the law of the land here (yet), I've defaulted every type to YES with an Ask Frequency of 0 so staff aren't ever prompted.

  • Hi Tara, as a UK organisation we've been using Contact Permissions since April 2018. We have divided things out by email and mail for marketing and fundraising in-house and then also for the venues we perform at. See attached image 1.

Further granularity around what customers sign up to hear about is handled through Attributes (see 2nd attached) so we know which mailings they want to hear from us on. Regardless of attribute the contact permission is required to be 'yes' for us to contact that person.

We have gone further with the functionality of contact permissions to add 'Recorded Media Consent' for our Education projects where we need consent to film students under the age of 18. This is per project permission and is at the bottom of attachment 1.
