Inactivating Constituent Accounts

We are in the process of implementing a data hygiene project that includes inactivating constituent records with no recent ticket or contribution activity. I looked at documentation and couldn't find any additional information on what happens to ticket and contribution history when an account is inactivated. Are there any reporting considerations we should consider? I appreciate any feedback this group can provide. Thanks!

  • Hey Sarah,

When you inactivate an account, it doesn't delete (unless you are using the new purge record functionality of V15). Even then, the record exists, it's just that all name and address data is deleted (it's probably still in the audit). You should still be able to report on the orders and contributions in these inactive accounts. I would always suggest testing in Test first and then running reporting to see if the numbers look correct for ticket sales and contributions.

  • Hi Sarah,

Depending upon what you use the database for it be worth considering any activity on the file not just ticket and donation history and creating an exclusion list of key contacts.

For example we have the bulk of our key company contacts on Tessitura such as Arts Organisation, government, music teachers,  education, philanthropic leads both individual and corporate etc. some of these may never donte or purchase tickets individually however they are drivers at the specific Organisation that support us now or have potential to do so.
