We are attempting to make use of some Symbol LS2208 scanners that have been sitting in storage for some time now. We may soon have an event that might require the box office to have access to a scanner as well as front of house, and I don't think its feasible to have the box office staff manually type nscan numbers into the record attendance.
I am attempting to setup an LS2208 so they can scan directly into the record attendance module, but I can't seem to figure out how to program the {} prefix and suffix characters. I've found zebras user guide and have been trying to follow the directions. I scan the necessary data transmission format code, then scan prefix code, then the 4 digit ASCII number of the character, and then repeat for the suffix. The scanner appears to recognize when each character code is successfully scanned in but then I scan a ticket into a word document and there are no prefix or suffix characters. Am I missing something? Does this require an RS-232 interface?
To your last question, no. Tessitura requires that scanners input data using keyboard emulation, which is fine over USB and seems to be what you're experiencing if you're scanning into Notepad/Word.
You might try programming your prefix/suffix characters a different way -- for our LS2208s (Symbol branded, before the Zebra rebrand but should still be identical) I used a windows app that allowed me to program the prefix and suffix in a GUI interface and just send the configuration to the scanner over USB. I think this is it: www.zebra.com/.../123scan-utility.html
That is exactly what I needed. It took a bit to figure out how to configure the ADF rules, but I was able to get it running in a short amount of time. Thanks again for the help.
