Analytics Server

Hi everyone,

I'm reading through the 14.1-to-15 upgrade instructions, and there's a little note at the beginning that the Analytics Server should not be housed on the same machine as the Test instance of Tessitura (we currently have TStats set up on our Test machine).   Does anyone know if this is really a 'best practice' recommendation to not install Analytics on the Test Server, or will it actually not function unless we install it on its own box?

Thanks,
Kathleen

  • Hi Kathleen,

Installing Analytics on its own server is a best practice recommendation; it’s not a functional requirement.  We know that sometimes the Tessitura test server is over-utilized.  We recommend that Analytics have its own dedicated server(s).

It’s possible to host all of the Analytics components on the same dedicated server. It makes sense from a resource perspective in that the data warehouse and cubes don’t process at the same time. First the warehouse processes, then the cubes process from the loaded warehouse. Then the cubes just sit there and respond to queries from the Analytics web application until the next nightly load.
