I'm in the process of establishing a "power user group" at my organization and would love to hear ideas/feedback from others who have done the same.
My goals include:
Empower and leverage our department-specific power users in order to increase our organization-wide Tessitura knowledge and skills
Cross-department collaboration and cross-training
Maximize our use of Tessitura's tools, especially analytics
I'd be interested in hearing about:
What were your goals and objects for your group?
Best practices? Pitfalls?
What type of meetings worked best? Trainings vs. other content?
What specific projects or issues did your group take on?
Thanks!
Odele
We now run two power users groups, one for Tessitura generally, and one focused just on our web presence. We meet twice a month and largely let the users set the agenda. As you get started it's probably best to just use meetings to discuss possible agenda items and projects, before developing a more formal format.
We also have formal project tasklists, and we use a quarter to half of the meeting to run through the items for the current quarter, the next quarter, and our backlog.
The power-user group is also the pool from which we draw stakeholders to do most of the initial planning and the implementation work on projects, with the managers only being brought in to sign off on the planning and the final results.
The power users are our primary source of new projects and our primary interface with the departments, being the channel through which we tend to disseminate training, updates, testing plans, etc. Basically all of your goals are the goals of our power user groups.
Technology-wise, we use Teamwork Projects for managing our project lists, and Google Drive for sharing documentation and other resources.
