NCOA Update

Hello All,

We are getting ready to do our first NCOA Update in Version 9.0.0.2.  We plan to use the Tessitura preferred vendor MBS.  I've read in the marketing forum a few issues people have run into and I was wondering if anyone has used a work around for any of these issues and how it panned out for them?

1)  My understanding is that the new addresses provided in the NCOA update actually overwrite the existing addresses rather than inactivating them and keeping them in the constituent's address history.  I would much rather inactivate and keep the old address.

2)  Selecting primary address is not an option in the front end - but I'm guessing this is an easy tweak in the back end.  Has anyone done this?

3)  I understand the optional address field (or street2) often gets overwritten with the NCOA update.  This would be a problem when an individual account has a business name listed in the Optional Address field.  I think it would be easy enough to save any accounts using the Opt. Address field along with the account id and then pull these back in after processing the import files - but still wondered how others had possibly handled this situation.

I'd be interested in hearing anyone's experiences with this new uitility and also with this vendor.

Thanks!

  • Hi Shellie,

The way we are handling the optional address situation is by moving things such as business name (for addresses on an individual record) and title to Salutations.  We then make sure that the appropriate Salutation is associated with the appropriate Address.   It's been mainly our Development department that is impacted and I know they have done a good chunk of work to get things cleaned up, but they seem to be happy with the results and the data clean-up this has forced.  Since we plan to run the NCOA Utility every 3 months a work-around such as you mention just didn't seem feasible and Salutations is a more permanent solution.

    Best of luck!
