Implementing EMV Vantiv & Wells Fargo Merchant services

I am almost to the end of getting my first EMV reader setup. RAMP, Firewall rules, port forwarding, what fun.....

Everything seems to be working with Tessitura.

When I try and pay for a ticket using the chip the reader asked for a PIN. I declined putting one in.  The transaction was declined. I figured it was Vantiv or Wells Fargo.

Wells got back to me and said it was the Vantiv gateway provider.

I finally got through to Vantiv and they said they have no way to configure whether a PIN is asked for or not.

I really hate it when the fingers start pointing starts.

Does anyone have any helpful hints?

  • This exactly is my biggest worry about implementing EMV: configuring/programming the software on the reader itself to provide the customer experience we want.

Who did you buy the reader from? My expectation would be that whoever you bought the device from is responsible for supporting it, and if you bought it wholesale then you're limited to the device manufacturer (and that's not going to be fun).
