Hi All,

Can anyone who uses TRBO tablets on a regular bases tell me how they are working with/around the new EMV chip reader requirements for credit cards?

Thx,

  • Hi Heidi, we have started using TRBO with swipe units for specific events, I'm not sure of the EMV chip reader requirements your mention but our Finance Head advised - if the customer signs the screen it is sufficient replacement for pin. The actual signature response is not very precise.

Interesting. I will need to look into whether that is the same in the US. It is my understanding that the EMV chips provide the merchant protection against fraudulent transactions. The shift moving from the bank being responsible to the merchant being responsible if you don't use the chip readers happened in 2017. I suppose the fraudulent transactions possibilities are minimal for a box office (over online retail etc), however I can't find any EMV readers for the TRBO tablets even if we wanted them. Do they exist?
