BOCAs slow to print on Server 2012

We have two newer BOCAs with network ports, and two older BOCAs with parallel only.

The newer BOCAs print fine over the network when they are installed directly using the TCP/IP address on a local machine.  But rather than install on each machine, I'd like to have it on our Windows 2012 print server, and deploy it via GPO.  But when we print through the print server, it either takes 1-2 minutes before the job goes through, or it doesn't go through at all.  I see the same results when printing directly from the 2012 server.  And to be clear, there's no RDP session involved in any of the above scenerios.

We don't have this issue with any of a dozen other printers we use, including the two older BOCAs that are connected via a couple of old parallel port Jetdirects to the network.

Any ideas as to what could be the cause here?

  • We are running Bocas on 2008R2 and 2016.  Haven't noticed any printing issues.

Few suggestions (one at a time, in this order)
If no change, then switch back before moving on.

    Printer Properties on the server:
Advanced Tab - Turn off "Enable enhanced printing features"
Sharing Tab - Uncheck "Render print jobs on Client"
Advanced Tab - Select "Start printing after last page has spooled"

Last resort - Advanced Tab "Print directly to printer"
