Round Up Donations Using TNEW

First time poster here and have a few questions. Does anyone have any experience using round up pricing inside of TNEW? For example when a customer purchases a performance or merchandise, we can round up whatever the final price is to a whole number and include that as a donation. Can this be implented easily with a website that utilizes Word Press? I am very new to Tessitura, but I have a decade of experience in database management. However, I still find myself often lost at times trying to navigate the tables inside of Tessi and making sure I am using the correct triggers to execute my code properly in SSMS. Slowly but surely I am getting the hang of things but could really use some input on this subject specifically. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi Beau,

I first want to plug the developer confluence site -- I've written a bunch of community documentation around database development for tessitura that is available there. You can also get access to the community Bitbucket repositories and a Slack team: see https://tessituracoders.bitbucket.io/ for info.

As to your question, we do a type of round-up contribution in TNEW using a payment.aspx customization. WordPress or whatever CMS you use is not really germane to this kind of customization since it all happens between TNEW's configuration and your database.

It is common for licensees to work with consulting to build these customizations, but there's no technical reason you couldn't do it yourself. Here's the documentation page on TNEW customizations. I'm happy to offer further guidance (and I'd also like to write some more in-depth resources for confluence), but it might be more worthwhile to connect on Slack to better talk through the issue.

  • Hey Nick!

Thanks so much for your reply. It was very insightful and I really enjoyed the "tessituracoders" plug, such a great resource. I ended up figuring out what needed to be done thanks to your link on TNEW Customizations. I look forward to contributing more to the community in the future.
