I have used extractions very little, so forgive me if this is an elementary question. Are extraction results filtered by control group?
I ask because when one of my users was building a segment using the Promotion Source Number query element, he was able to choose from all sources. Not just the ones tied to his control grouped appeals. I was a little surprised by this since the query element is based on vs_promotions which is in turn tied to vs_appeal which is a control group controlled view.

The Promotion Source Number criterion does not have a dropdown for the value. It’s a field into which you type a source code. At least that’s the way it is set up default. If it was customized to have a dropdown value, then it sounds like it was set up to reference the tables directly to build the dropdown instead of the control grouped view.
Extraction results are control grouped if the criteria reference the control grouped view. So even if a dropdown value is not control grouped, the data the criterion looks at will still be control grouped as long as the data table is set to reference a control grouped view.
You can easily check what tables/views are referenced by a criterion by right clicking on it in the left pane of the criteria set.

Thanks Kevin. That right click function is worth the price of admission all by itself! I'd been shuttling back and forth between Extractions and system tables. This makes the troubleshooting MUCH easier.
I'll have to look at the customization and hopefully undo it. It sounds like the default functionality is what we are looking for.
