Barcode Import

We explored Barcode Imports a few years back, but are just coming back to it now. Are any of you using the Order Export/Import utility for this? Anything you would advise to an org just looking into it. Was it pretty simple to tackle or did you need assistance from the Network and/or a counsultant.

About 9 years ago we hired JCA to create this type of Import so we could integrate Ticketmaster data, but just about when the project completed we convinced everyone to never use TM again for anything. I think complicated projects like that left some scars on some of us and I want to make sure it is really as simple as the documentation seems.

Thanks!

Nicole

    Hi Nicole,

Here at Sydney Theatre Company we worked with the Sydney Opera House to set it up so that they can import our barcode data and scan our tickets for performances we produce at their venue.

I think the main thing to keep in mind is how importing the data will impact on the way your organisation reports sales data etc and planning accordingly.

In our case to keep things simple I hacked the standard Order Export utility to simplify what is being sent to the venue for import.  Everything is being imported to a single organisation consituent record, using a single price type with a $0 value.  At the other end they are using the standard Order Import utility.

Feel free to reach out to me directly if you would like any further details.

    Cheers
    Sarah
