Notepad++ for Mac

Hear ye, hear ye, fellow Tessiturans!

If you do any amount of dabbling in Tessitura tools and/or SQL (or paid attention at some of the conference sessions), you might have come across the amazing free software that is Notepad++. This handy little gem is recommended for prepping and inspecting files/code for various points of usage, I most recently utilized it for the illustrious Constituent Import Tool (to make sure my import file was A-OK).

This is all fine and well if you're on a PC, as Notepad++ is a Windows program. If you're like me and on a Mac, however, Notepad++ isn't exactly an option ... it hasn't been ported over to the Mac.

So, like any Brave Tessituran before me might have done, I embarked upon a daunting quest ... Though the path was long, winding, and full of monsters, I only shat myself half a dozen times. And lo, though I walked through the valley of tumult, terror, and tainted trousers, I didn't give up on defeating the evil obstacle of platform exclusivity.

What the hell does that mean for you?

Well, if you're not into technical details, I've whipped up a Mac compatible version of Notepad++.

Just peruse down to the link below, download the zip archive, unzip it, and run the app like you would any other.

You can open, edit, save, and/or create files just as you would within Notepad++.

The only caveat? Mac native keyboard shortcuts like "Command + C" or "Command + V" are replaced by their Windows equivalents: "Control + C" or "Control + V".

So if you're on a Mac and have Notepad++ envy, have it no more! Please feel free to download the app (zipped up as an archive for easy sharing) at my Google Drive link below. And of course, I'm happy to answer any questions about the port and help get anyone up and running with the software if it appears as Greek upon download.
