Examples of Custom Constituent Header Elements

Good morning all,

I'm curious if anyone here would be willing to share some examples of information they've added to a Custom Constituent Header in Tessitura.

I'm currently in the process of thinking through some changes to our headers, and I've already written code to display an icon when a constituent has a gift they've made in the last week, as well as a modification to the baked-in Urgent CSI code so that it will display the icon if the constituent has an open CSI that isn't urgent.

Since I'm looking at this, I'm just really interested to hear other examples so that we can tackle a comprehensive overhaul if it warrants.

Thank you,

Brian

  • Kathleen,

Thank you for sharing! I'll have to remember the chain-link idea if we ever get our ticketing to go through Tessitura (we're currently stuck with our PAC using ProVenue, so that's the only element that doesn't go through Tess).

With regard to the use of images/animated gifs, do you know off-hand the size restrictions and requirements on those (or where to find them)? No worries if not, I'm sure they're somewhere in the documentation and I can uncover them.

    Thank you again,

    Brian

We have lots of these. Some highlights:

    For Box Office:

    • The ever-popular "Next perf"
    • A header flag if the constituent has an open CSI
    • A different header flag if the constituent has an open Subscription-related CSI
    • A two more header flags that trigger if the constituent has a bad postal or e-mail address
    • We also append non-constituency "pseudo-constituencies" to the constituency string so that additional, short-lived codes representing redeemed staff comp purchases can appear in the header without the fuss of making actual constituencies for every production, every year.

    For Volunteer admins:

    • Volunteer Reward points earned/used/redeemed

    For Devo:

    • Two for CY and Y1 AF giving totals
    • Communication preference
    • Expired, or no, CC on file

    Group Sales:

    • Group Sales code (a sort of category, school, business, etc.)
    • Primary Contact name

  • We have one for the Development Department security groups which displays current entitlement allotment and usage.

  • We have icons for snowbirds vs year-rounders (since we’re in Florida!), a chain-link icon that reminds us to check a person’s ‘sits with’ associations and at one point I also had a sparkly, animated gif that displayed when super special VIPs were pulled up- an exec wanted to know how flashy I could make something, and while I proved that I could do it, we ultimately decided to not go down that road!

    Cheers,

    Kathleen

  • Corporate team has an element that shows the name of the constituent that has an affiliation of "Primary Business Contact" (the name of the person at the company being displayed) and one that has "Primary NIDA Contact" to display the name of the person here that supervises the relationship.

For our Education team (that handles school/holiday courses) a minion icon shows if we have the constituent DOB and they're a minor.

  • I don’t think there are specific requirements, but images over 100x100 px don’t really fit well.  It’s more about the real estate space on the header than technical limitations, I think.

    Cheers,
    Kathleen

  • For all users:

We have a Development Staff Liaison attribute that shows up in the header, if it exists.

The use of the word “wheelchair” in a ticket order puts a wheelchair icon in the header.

We put the account number in a Sits With field based on an active association with an end date after “today.” If there are more than one associations of this type, the word “multiple” is returned instead of one account.

A small Spanish flag displays to the left of the patron ID if there is a language attribute of Spanish.

A “construction warning” image shows up to the left of the constituency string if the patron has an open CSI warning of a certain type (usually for gratuitous chargeback activity or other nonpayment issues).

We have a **Read CSI** notification if an account has an open CSI of the Account Issue category, Account Issue-Read CSI activity type. These are used mostly to identify potential duplicate accounts, and occasionally to indicate bad addresses/phones/e-mails. The idea is that a ticket office rep could then ask the patron calling in to confirm or update account information.

For Development only (and senior management), we have a tally of donations to a particular campaign separated out.

  • For everyone we display:

    - Phonetic names

    - next perf

    - rank

    - VIP status

    - Bad address CSI Icon

    For Dev

-12 Month Giving - all contributions in 12 months

    - Current FY IND/BRD gift - total gifts

    - Last FY IND/BRD gift - total gifts

    - Refused benefits for membership

    For Ticketing/Data Team

    - On Account $

    - Verify phone and email icons

Cool idea! Wish we had room for it on our headers. :-)

    For Volunteer admins:

    • Volunteer Reward points earned/used/redeemed

Off-topic for a sec; we're in the early stages of developing a volunteer program, and I'd love to hear more details about this type of Volunteer Reward points system if at all possible!

    For Devo:

    • Expired, or no, CC on file

Does this header element only trigger if there are no current credit cards on file? I'm curious about the code background on this; I'm assuming it's searching the cards to find a single record which has an expiration date greater than the current date and flagging if it fails to find one.

    Thank you for sharing!

I love this (and will have to share with our Center for Dance Education staff)! We have a new customization which is going to allow us to capture date of birth information direct from our TNEW into a constituent record, so we'll have access to that information on a regular basis very soon.

Even though we designate our students as Child Members of household records, this would be a nice visual reminder to be able to trigger.

    Thank you for sharing!

    Brian

  • For our Customer Facing staff (Call Center, Box Office, Front of House, etc):

    - Membership Level/Expiration
    - Portfolio Manager (a Development staff person, calculated by looking at most recent plan of certain type)
    - 12Month Giving - this looks at a custom view to include certain types of credited gifts, and gifts from entities if the record is an individual with a certain affiliation type
    - Member Notes (brief description of benefits)
    - On Account $
    - Open CSI indicator
    - ADA icon, if order has ADA needs special request OR ADA CSI created by site
    - Construction Warning icon, if customer has open CSI of certain types
    -  gold star icon, if customer has certain constituency

For our Development staff sees all of the above, plus:

    - Entity Affiliation - the organization/corporation an individual is affiliated with. A string of names if the individual is affiliated with multiple organizations

    - Phonetic names

I love this! How does it work? Do you have a custom field where somebody is entering the phonetics for each name and then the header grabs from there? What does it do on the household level?

    Thank you,

    Brian

  • I created a salutation type for phonetic pronunciation on my instance. It certainly could be stored other ways.

  • We created an alias type called Phonetic, which anyone can enter, and then we created a custom flex header element that picks it up and displays it on the header. It displays on whatever record it's added to, so if added on the HH it only shows up on the HH. If added to the Ind, it only shows on the Ind. Since we transact everything on the HH it hasn't really been an issue. We use it mainly for last names, but it will work for first names too.
