We're starting to explore creating (or, better yet, discovering!) a solution for using Tessitura for some HR purposes: copies of contracts; vacation accrual, requests, & usage; and ticket allotments. We already use relationships and constituencies for basic staff tracking, but that's pretty much it.
I know there are a million ways to do this-- and have seen a number of different posts on everything from web-based volunteer portals for tracking hours, to creating dummy maps to track ticket allotments and scheduling.
Since we're starting from scratch, my first priority is to make sure it works for our needs but, wherever possible, I'd also like to use existing standard functionality (although perhaps in a non-standard way), both for ease of implementation, and for continued use.
So-- who IS using Tessitura for HR & staff purposes? Or artists, volunteers, etc? What are you doing and would you recommend it? Are you using custom screens or something standard?
Thanks!
Sheila,
We're not currently making use of Tess for any HR purposes, but I thought it would be worth mentioning that "Resource Scheduling" will be coming to the next full version update of Tessitura and I think a fair number of the things you're thinking of tracking will be viable in that structure. That might save you some time and money to not have to have custom work done if you can hold out until the next update.
Thank you,
Brian
As a follow-up: information on Resource Scheduling starts on slide 8 here: http://www.tessituranetwork.com/tlcc/2016/Pres/EVE2_05_TN_Technology.pptm in the Tessitura Technology presentation from TLCC 2016.
Edit: or you could watch the recorded video of the presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjKfd_DJHZQ&feature=youtu.be&list=PLXn2SmoQIN4_uIrSWt_Zs_xr4FUEUf3LO as well.
This is great! Thanks. And yes-- definitely looks like it will save lots of time/money!
I am newly returned to Tessitura after a few years away, so I am still catching up on all of the new and exciting things on the horizon :)
Cheers,
Sheila
Hi,
We went down this route as far as doing a mockup of the custom screen we'd have used for full HR tracking. Reporting was to follow, but then we paused.
We paused because we wanted to be sure we weren't building something that would be duplicating data already in payroll, and that we weren't creating a situation where records and data would be unmanageable because of the spread across new systems on the Tessitura roadmap, like Resource Management, and on our own roadmap, like Payroll, Financial Accounting, Access Control and Time Scheduling.
So instead of getting stuck into customising Tessitura, we took some time to put together a survey for cultural organisations, which we'll be sending out in the next few weeks. Whilst our initial drive to do this was purely selfish, it soon became clear that lots or orgs will benefit by taking part. Participants can request a copy of the response data to get an idea of what others are using for tracking, reporting and integrating HR, Payroll, Financial Accounting, Time Scheduling and tracking and Access Control. Drop me a line if you'd like to take part in the survey.
Oh and the mockup is here:
Richie
Wows-- thanks, Richie. And yes, definitely include me/us on the survey: sheila@youngcentre.ca.
