Backdating post

If someone forgot to backdate a handful of posts, would it be safe to just update the post_dts in t_gl_posting_history for the posts in question, or should I unpost and repost?

  • We unpost and repost.

  • We unpost and repost as well.

What you suggest might do the trick.  If you are using some kind of integration with your finance software that would get trickier. post_dt also appears in t_gl_posting_ftp.

My general stance is to do what I can to let Tess generate the data rather than me doing some kinds of manual update to the database.  The unpost process is pretty straightforward so unless its a long list of postings, I'd go that route.

I wanted to jump in here with "the Network line".  We do not recommend updating the t_gl_posting_history or t_gl_posting_ftp tables via SQL.  As Levi notes, the unposting/posting process is relatively painless and will take care of the reposting properly.  Updating tables in the backend always leaves room for error, and since this process is covered by standard procedures, I recommend using the unpost repost method.
